About Us

About Longwood Veterinary Center

Longwood Veterinary Center was the combined dream of Dr. Carla Andrews and Dr. Laurie Strine that became reality in 1998. We are a small privately-owned hospital that operates more like a family than a business. Our hospital employs seven dedicated veterinarians and 20+ compassionate nursing and administrative staff. Many of the members of our Kennett Square veterinary center team have over 20 years of experience. Our facility offers state of the art equipment and technology along with specialty services not often offered in the general practice setting.

We strive to provide exceptional medical care and customer service while building lifelong relationships with you, your family, and your pets. We are of the opinion it is extremely important your pet feels comfortable here and implement handling methods that reduce stress and make veterinary visits positive for all. We offer an experience tailored exclusively to your pet’s medical needs and personality and strive to make a meaningful impact in all of our patients lives. We also offer services ranging from emergency care to advanced diagnostics, and even have an option for house calls when situations warrant such.

Our Core Values

Be kind, be mindful, show empathy and compassion, and always do the right thing.

Our Mission

The mission of Longwood Veterinary Center is to provide our patients with the highest standard of care in a welcoming and fear-free environment. Our wish is for close relationships, with our patients and clients, to evolve from a kind and empathetic approach to the practice of medicine and the humane treatment of animals. By adhering to our core values, our hope is we will leave a positive and gentle footprint on our community.

Accreditations

Longwood Veterinary Center has several important accreditations. Find out why that is so important for you and your pet below:

  • American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) Accreditation— AAHA accredited hospitals must meet or exceed certain standards for pain management, surgery, anesthesia, diagnostic imaging, and all other hospital procedures and protocols. Certification is voluntary and demonstrates an extreme commitment to the practice of high-quality medicine and patient care.

  • Fear Free Certification— This certification requires a practice dedicated to creating a positive experience for each pet, that uses considerate and gentle techniques during examinations and procedures, and provides a calm environment designed to minimize stress for all patients.

Testimonials

"Dr Knipe has always been very good to me and my cats. All of the staff I have dealt with at Longwood are very nice. I really appreciate how everyone takes the time to explain everything to me."
– Thomas Ralston

“We aren’t regular patients, but they took in our diabetic kitty without hesitation when she began showing signs of ketoacidosis. They were thorough and kind, and they did everything they needed to get her better. Each time we stopped in to visit over her extended stay, she looked more and more like herself. We knew it would be an expensive process, but they kept us informed of her expenses, so we were aware of the cost of each treatment. We are so grateful for the doctors and staff for helping us get our kitty back!”

“I only wish I would get the level of care from my doctor that my dog does at LVC. Great people who love working with animals and it shows in their attitudes.”
– Charles, on Google

“This office had everything our pet needed (x-ray, procedure, medicines). Staff (Dr. Siegfried, Dana, and staff) even stayed late when our pet needed urgent care. Thank you!”
– Ed, on Google

“The doctors and staff at Longwood Veterinary Center are top notch. Our fur babies have been patients there for many years. Their care and expertise keep our kitties healthy and happy.”
– Cindy, on Facebook

"I just wanted to express how wonderful it has been to switch to Longwood Vet. The staff has been a pleasure to work with and are always extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Dr. Siegfried has been an absolute joy! She genuinely cares and listens to my concerns every visit. Unfortunately, after a number of not so great experiences, Bella doesn’t particularly love going to the vet. Dr. Siegfried is always so patient and tries to make it a pleasant experience for her. I think my absolute favorite quality of Dr. Siegfried’s is that she always has a plan and makes sure I am one step ahead with preventatives and medications to help reduce the likelihood of future issues. It has been a such a delight working with Dr. Siegfried this past year and I look forward to many more years with her as our vet."
Thank you!

Can't thank the staff enough for saving our dog's life. We walked in their place with only minutes to spare the Dr's meet me at the door an scooped her up and got to work. Big thanks, we will be bringing our pack over for regular checks.

— Bob Lewis
