Our Veterinarians

Carla Andrews, DVM

Dr. Andrews graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware in 1984. In 1988, Dr. Andrews graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Andrews practiced in South Carolina, Maryland and Delaware before opening Longwood Veterinary Center with Dr. Strine in 1998. Dr. Andrews’ special interests are behavior, internal medicine, dentistry, pocket pets, and Fear Free handling. She resides in Wilmington, DE with her husband, Frank. She has two grown children who are excelling in their careers. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, competitive dog agility, and spending time with her family.

Laurie Strine, VMD

Dr. Strine completed her undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Bucknell University in 1985. Dr. Strine graduated magna cum laude from the University Of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. After graduation, Dr. Strine completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. After her internship, she worked at a small animal hospital in Newark, DE until opening Longwood Veterinary Center with Dr. Andrews in 1998. She enjoys surgery, orthopedics, and feline medicine. Dr. Strine and her husband, David, live in Chadds Ford. and beloved cats. Their oldest daughter is currently enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine while her other daughters are both in college and doing well. In her spare time, Laurie enjoys traveling with her family and spending time at the beach.

Wendy Freeman, VMD

Dr. Freeman graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. After graduation, Dr. Freeman completed an internship in ambulatory medicine and surgery at New Bolton Center. Wendy joined the faculty at New Bolton Center and became Assistant Professor of Medicine and Field Service in 1992, where she worked on developing and directing the small ruminant program. To this day, she is one of the most experienced small ruminant specialists in the United States. She enjoys practicing small animal medicine and has special interests in oncology, behavior, and certification for pet travel. Dr. Freeman is also an avid scuba diver.

Kimberly Knipe, VMD

Dr. Knipe received her bachelor’s degree in 1991 from Hamilton College, where she majored in Biology. She then graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. After graduation she spent seven years practicing medicine and surgery in Alexandria, VA. Dr. Knipe has been working at Longwood Veterinary Center since October 2003, and she enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery, with a special interest in diagnostic imaging. She lives in West Chester, PA with her husband, pets and daughter. Her two older boys are enjoying college. In her spare time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and staying fit playing tennis on a competitive local team.

Corrina Parsons, VMD

Dr. Parsons graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. After graduation, she completed an internship in large animal medicine and surgery at the University of Georgia and a residency in large animal internal medicine at New Bolton Center. Dr. Parsons is certified in veterinary acupuncture. Her special interests include acupuncture, behavior, and dentistry. She resides in Lancaster County with her husband, two children, and a menagerie of pets and farm animals. In her spare time, she loves caring for her family, training, riding, and driving horses, as well as working on her farm.

Beatrice McCabe, VMD

Dr. McCabe graduated from Penn State University, main campus, in 1991. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. She has been practicing small animal medicine in south eastern Pennsylvania for over 20 years and joined the LVC team in 2008. Dr. McCabe enjoys preventative medicine but has a special interest in helping clients improve the quality of life for their senior pets. Dr. McCabe lives in the Chester County area with her husband and pets. Her boys are grown but happily close by and doing well. She is a big football fan, and loves to cheer for her favorite teams, the Penn State Nittany Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Lexie Hanna, VMD

Dr. Hanna graduated from University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 and obtained her certification in Veterinary Acupuncture from Colorado State University that summer. Her ties to Longwood Veterinary Center go back to 1999 when she helped out as an assistant prior to Vet School. In addition to general medicine, Dr. Hanna offers acupuncture through Peaceful Pet, LLC. She believes that Veterinary Medicine is much more than just science. She combines science, healing arts, spirituality and mindfulness to create a compassionate and peaceful experience for her patients and their owners. In her free time, Lexie enjoys teaching, horseback riding, going to the beach, and watching her boys play sports. She and her husband, Thomas, live in Greenville, Delaware with their 3 sons, 2 dogs and a handful of chickens.

Katie Knight, DVM

Dr. Knight graduated from Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016.  After graduation she worked in small animal general practice for several years before completing a small animal medicine and surgery internship at BluePearl in Rockville, MD in 2019.  Following her internship she worked for several years as an emergency clinician in Newark, DE before joining Longwood Veterinary Center in 2021.  Dr. Knight has a special interest in diagnostic imaging and critical care.  She resides in Wilmington, DE with her husband, their two cats, and their two dogs.  In her spare time Katie enjoys baking, traveling, and spending time with her family.

Tiffany Haegele, DVM

Prior to graduating from North Carolina State University, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2017, Dr. Haegele worked as a veterinary technician here at Longwood Veterinary Center. In 2021 she joined our practice again, this time as an associate veterinarian. Up to this point, Dr. Haegele has had a varied career. Immediately after graduation she assisted in swine research at NC State, then moved to Florida to work in small animal general practice. Her primary veterinary interests include surgery, internal medicine, dermatology, and nutrition. Dr. Heagle grew up in Chester County but loves to travel. She also enjoys outdoor activities including horseback riding and watching sports. She shares her home with a Bulldog, Pitbull and Conure.
