Respiratory Disease Outbreak 2023 – Learn More

I lie awake, afraid to sleep,
From the fearful smells and high pitched beeps of the hospital room.
My eyes try to focus, searching for peace.
They fall upon you.
You talk to me in a voice so kind, it soothes my soul and calms my mind.
You stroke my fur and touch my head.
Pain is eased and I, instead of feeling fear and doubt,
No longer push upon the cage crying “Let me out!”
I soften into a pool of quiet,
My tail now wags in happy riot.
I understand you are here to help, I silence now my frightened yelps.
You have taken away my fear for the worst,
And for that I love you, my loyal nurse.
